WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2019
On the 10th October every year, organisations worldwide draw attention to mental health and its major effects on peoples' lives.
It is a day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma.
The theme for 2019 is SUICIDE PREVENTION. The object of making #suicideprevention the theme this year is to attract the attention of governments so that the issue might be given priority in public health agendas around the world.
There are many ways you can get involved and help raise awareness:
Host a ‘Tea & Talk’ fundraising event for friends and family
Organise conversations at your workplace, school, and community.
Sign THIS PETITION to put mental health at the heart of what children learn in school.
If you are struggling with your own mental health and need help there is a new service available called SHOUT. For support in a crisis you can text ‘shout’ anytime anywhere to 85258 (if your life is in imminent danger call 999) A trained volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. They can help with; suicidal thoughts, abuse or assault, self-harm, bullying, and relationships.
